Remote Work in Spain: Hesitance to Return to the Office

Bytym 10/07/202410/07/2024
According to a recent study by Capterra, Spain is ranked in the top 5 European countries with the highest resistance to return to offices.
Preference for remote work is significantly high in Spain, with 90% of employees choosing to work remotely or in a hybrid way, compared to only 10% who prefer a completely presential model.

Compared to other European countries, this reflects a significant change in the work culture of our country. However, despite this strong inclination towards remote work, Spain still has challenges to solve in order to optimize this modality and is still far from being among the European leaders in terms of remote work implementation.

ONE OUT OF THREE EMPLOYEES SAY THEY WOULD BE PREPARED TO SWITCH TO ANOTHER COMPANY IF IT OPTED TO RETURN TO OFFICES.

Despite the results of the study, currently in Spain about 44% of employees work in companies with a fully presential model. In France, 36% of employees are working on-site, while in Japan, for example, the percentage of employees working in offices is 70%.

If anything is clear, it is that the current tendency to return to the office is not aligned with the general preferences of employees. The main reason employees prefer to work remotely is the work-life balance it offers them. As some of you may already know, at TYM we support 100% teleworking, hybrid model and self-management.
